Fellows in Senlis

There has been a rolling tide of change in our plans, but destiny has a way of being perfect. The venue of our stay has quite pleasantly been changed to Senlis, France --- a town with a long, interesting history, many important sites to see, and proximity to Paris and other important sites in Picardie.

The Eleanor Kirkpatrick Franco-American fellows and their host teacher will be leaving Oklahoma City on Saturday, March 10th and arriving in Paris on Sunday, March 11th. The students and families of Lycée Hugues Capet have agreed to host us during our stay. Fortunately, this school is partnered already with Casady School in Oklahoma City and they have just been visiting Oklahoma City. Our own fellow Lexi will be able to stay with the family of the same girl she has been hosting for the past week! In fact, students from Casady School will be visiting the Lycée Hugues Capet for most of the time we will be there and we will sharing some activities with them. Of course, our trip is not the same as the Casady School trip and we will have our own research and exploration to conduct, so we will also have a certain autonomy during our stay and we will include a variety of activities to address our fellows' research topic and to support the mission of the Eleanor Kirkpatrick Franco-American Fellowship.

Just a hint of things to come:
  • March 16, 17, & 18, the fellows will visit Amiens and either Montdidier or Abbeville (the details on this are still being worked out).
  • March 19 we will visit Paris, dine in a true French gastronomical restaurant, and attend a music concert after which we will meet the performers (all thanks to the amazing music teacher who is also an accomplish musical performer with wonderful connections to the world of music in Paris)
  • March 21 we will have a guided treasure-hunt style tour of Senlis. Here are some sites we can expect to see:
